"챗GPT가 내 업무도 대신?"…직장인들도 '관심'

세계적으로 인기를 끄는 챗GPT가 국내 직장인들 사이에서도 큰 반향을 불러일으키고 있다.
챗GPT를 본인의 업무에 적용해보고선 놀라움과 함께 당혹감을 느끼는 직장인들이 많다.

미국 마이크로소프트(MS) 창업자인 빌 게이츠가 대화형 인공지능(AI) 서비스 챗(Chat)GPT를 두고 "인터넷만큼 중대한 발명"이라고 평가했다.
10일(현지 시각) 로이터 등 외신에 따르면 게이츠는 독일 일간지 한델블라스트와의 인터뷰에서 챗GPT가 "세상을 바꿀 것"이라며 이렇게 말했다.
챗GPT는 미국 회사인 오픈AI가 개발한 대화형 인공지능 챗봇이다.
마이크로소프트는 오픈AI에 약 12조원을 투자했으며 자사 검색 엔진 '빙'(Bing)과 인터넷 브라우저 '엣지'(Edge)에 챗GPT를 적용했다.
챗GPT는 공개 두 달 만에 1억명의 사용자를 확보했다.
게이츠는 "지금까지 AI는 음성 인식과 시각적 인식에 매우 능숙하지만 본질적으로 그 내용을 이해하지는 못했다"며
"챗GPT 같은 새로운 프로그램은 지식을 통해 학습, 개선, 읽기, 쓰기가 가능하다"고 말했다.
이어 "이 프로그램이 앞으로 송장이나 편지 작성을 도와 많은 사무 업무를 보다 효율적으로 만들 것"이라며 "보건의료, 교육 분야에서 특히 큰 효과를 나타낼 것"이라고 설명했다.
챗GPT의 등장에 대항해 구글은 지난 7일 새로운 인공지능 서비스 '바드'(Bard)를 공개하며 경쟁에 불을 붙였다.
게이츠는 "마이크로소프트와 구글이 인공지능 분야를 리드하기 위해 경쟁하는 중"이라며
"향후 2년에 걸쳐 인공지능 프로그램 발전이 엄청날 것"이라고 예측했다.

So promising are the tool’s capabilities that Microsoft — amid laying off 10,000 people — has announced a “multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment” in the revolutionary technology, which is growing smarter by the day.
And the rise of machines leaves many well-paid workers vulnerable, experts warn.
“AI is replacing the white-collar workers. I don’t think anyone can stop that,” said Pengcheng Shi, an associate dean in the department of computing and information sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology.

As it stands now, ChatGPT — currently banned in NYC schools — “can easily teach classes already,” Shi said.
The tool would likely be most effective at the middle or high school level, he added, as those classes reinforce skills already established in elementary school.

ABSTRACT
We evaluated the performance of a large language model called ChatGPT on the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), which consists of three exams:
Step 1, Step 2CK, and Step 3. ChatGPT performed at or near the passing threshold for all three exams without any specialized training or reinforcement.
Additionally, ChatGPT demonstrated a high level of concordance and insight in its explanations.
These results suggest that large language models may have the potential to assist with medical education, and potentially, clinical decision-making.
